We do AERIAL photography and not AIRIAL, AIRIAL or ARIEL photography.
When people call to ask us what we do we tell them that we do AERIAL photography. When we get emails or Google searches some people usk us questions that are confusing because of the spelling. Phonetics are funny. When you say the word AERIAL you could spell it many ways. ARIAL. AIRIAL. ARIEL can you think of any others.
But the true real exact proper etc word is AERIAL for the photography we do. Which is weird because we shoot from the AIR.
You can view Aerial Photography in WIKIPEDIA
If you go to the dictionary you find this:
1.BRITISHa rod, wire, or other structure by which signals are transmitted or received as part of a radio or television transmission or receiving system.
1.existing, happening, or operating in the air.“an aerial battle”So our AERIAL is an adjective and it describes the Photography that we do.If AERIAL was a Noun it might describe the aerial that is a transmitter or connected to your car radio etc.An Ariel is a gazelle found in the Middle East and North AfricaArial – Arial, sometimes marketed or displayed in software as Arial MT, is a sans-serif typeface and set of computer fonts. Fonts from the Arial familyAirial – is not a word. Maybe we could invent one?So just for the records: We do AERIAL photography
Hammerhead Crane Garden Island Sydney
My uncle Frank Wade designed this big ‘Hammerhead’ crane at Garden Island many years ago. He died at 103 yrs old many years ago.
I have been trying to get a good and different aerial photo of the hammerhead crane garden island sydney for years. Everything lined up the other day and I really like this result. What about that big helipad on the FRONT of that red ship, the Navy’s ‘Ocean Shield’.
This is a very high resolution original file is anyone is interested in a print.

Aerial Photo of Redfern including The Old Block
The grassed area to the top right is the old notorious ‘Block’ area of Redfern.
Before it was regenerated there were countless stories in the press of the goings on their at night. The whole area got out of hand so the authorities stepped in. This image shows a stark contrast of open space and the rigid line of terraced houses leading to the train station at Redfern.
Technically speaking this aerial photo mission was a challenge due to the proximity of the target to the air traffic from Mascot airport. Working with a great pilot is teamwork plus!

Its a mystery to me how the weather works … not really … its my business to know and forecast it. That’s why I have a library, actually a few libraries of aerial photography online … for these bad weather conditions. Basically the aerial image library service offered lets you make your advertising deadlines.
Aerial Photo by Tim Mooney. Sometimes it seems like the conditions are never going to end

When flying and doing my aerial photography you get to see things in a different perspective.
One would think that the amount of flying I do would expose me to marine threatening occasions. Not so although this one did raise a shark alarm after we radio’d in to Surf Life Saving.
Other events from the sky that we kept our distance from was the birth of a whale on the south coast of NSW. We were en route to a shoot when we noticed a very large whale curving her body. We continued on to complete the shoot. On our return to base flying over the same are there was the mother whale with her new born (and a mess) right beside her. Beautiful.
I always remember: We are all part of the food chain.
Hello down there!
Not really. I don’t live in the sky. I live on the ground like you but I can tell you there is nothing like a bird’s eye view from the chopper.
Aerial photography is something I have been doing for over 30 years and it still excites me tremendously. Not just the flight but also the fact that I can deliver to clients clear, crisp aerial photos that help market, sell or expose property and real estate.
There’s nothing like a great aerial photograph to really tell the story. Aerial photographs show location, size, aspect, condition, typography, etc etc. See the aerial photo … get the picture.
